Guest Post: You Make My Dreams Come True

I'm honored to have another amazing guest with us today. Tracy from Events to a T is here to share her story of how she and her husband chose the most important song at their wedding. Please welcome her warmly.

I cannot tell you what songs I chose for my processional, to what my bridesmaids walked down the aisle, I can’t even tell you to which song I walked down the aisle! I know I didn’t want it to be too “churchy” or traditional and that I played maybe three options for my now husband on the laptop before going to bed one night. The entire process took less than 15 minutes.

However, when choosing the recessional song, now THAT was important! That took us time. Yes, the recessional song, not the first dance song (though that was also important and took us some time, but did not excite us in the same way), not the father/daughter dance, not even our grand entrance song.

We felt as if the recessional song had to make a huge impact. This was going to be the first song people were going to hear after we had just said “I DO”. We would walk back down the aisle to this song as husband and wife! It had to be a celebration, it had to make an impact, and it had get the party started!

One Sunday morning after breakfast my now husband just started playing You Make My Dreams Come True by Hall and Oats on the computer and we were singing and dancing around the kitchen and we knew we had our recessional song! For the next several months we played this song over and over and over again. It made us so happy and excited.

We kept this little detail of the wedding from everyone and when it came on and we loudly sang the words “you make my dreams come true” while walking back down the aisle as my husband high-fived our guests, we could just see the pleasure on everyones faces. It was such a fun decision and one we will never forget. Today when that song comes on our friends smile and call it “our song”, not our first dance song.
